General Greenthumb (シーゼン）is a toy in Chibi-Robo! Park Patrol. He is a superhero action figure from a video game called Smog Wars, who swears to protect all of nature. He is brainwashed by Miasmo to became the villainous Sergeant Smogglor. He has the ability to fly, use an attack called "Zapow", and summon Smoglings.
Appearance[]
He is first seen as Sergeant Smogglor（ダークシーゼン), whose colors are different from his usual self. He is an action figure with a black bodysuit and grey armor on his chest. He wears white gloves and boots that go up to his knees and elbows. On his chest is a symbol that is similar to an eye. He wears a helmet with a large spike that goes back, and a second smaller spike under it. The front of his helmet reveals blue eyes. He has large spikes protruding from his shoulders as well.
When reverted back to General Greenthumb, he retains the same physical appearance, but with different colors. His body is mostly a dark green, with his armor being bright blue and his eyes becoming yellow. His helmet becomes blue and green.
Personality[]
As Sergeant Smogglor, he is a rude and smug villain who often insults Chibi-Robo and the park, to a point where he deliberately harms Chibi-Robo and his toy friends. He shows some affection and respect for the Smoglings, and holds his boss, Miasmo, in high regards. He often expresses his hatred for nature, and a desire to destroy all of Chibi-Robo's progress on the park.
As Greenthumb, he is much more kind and respectful. He acts noble and confident, behaving more like a traditional superhero. He claims that he is the defender of nature, and will defeat polluters to protect the park. He is willing to go as far as to sacrifice himself for the good of nature.
Storyline[]
Sergeant Smogglor is a consistently returning obstacle in the main story. He first appears to Chibi-Robo at the park, mocking his progress and informing him that he will be making efforts to stop any further growth of the park. He summons Smoglings to turn flowers into Black Flowers, explaining that they will wilt before the next day despite their apparent beauty to him.
He continuously appears to summon Smoglings. At one point, he attempts to use his attack which drains the energy of toys, "Zapow", on Chibi-Robo, but quickly realizes that it doesn't work. After informing Miasmo of this, he is given the ability to summon Smogglobs as well as Smoglings.
At certain amounts of flowers, when Smogglor appears, he sees the flowers sparkle, causing him to have flashbacks of his former self as General Greenthumb and temporarily revert to his original colors. It seems to cause him extreme pain, crying out and holding his head. Miasmo quickly appears to revert him to Sergeant Smogglor, upgrading his Zapow attack at the same time. Using his new upgraded attack, SUPEREXTREME Zapow, he knocks the Chibi-Gear out of Chibi-Robo's head, and summons a Smogglob for him to fight. The second time he sees the flowers sparkle, Miasmo gives him the final upgrade, SUPERELITE Zapow, which knocks out both the Chibi-Gear and the Chibi-Rides, leaving Chibi-Robo to fight a Smogglob with no gear.
After the final flashback, Greenthumb declares that Miasmo will control him no longer. Miasmo appears to him, calling him a useless piece of trash, and leaves him as Greenthumb. With his memories restored, he is disturbed by his own actions as Smogglor, and flies off.
He returns for the final time during the battle with Miasmo, sacrificing himself so that Chibi-Robo can finish the job. The explosion sends Greenthumb flying to the ground, and is on the floor when the two are returned to the park. Seeing the beauty restored to the park, he is thankful to Chibi-Robo for his hard work. He is pleased by the appearance of pink Smoglings as well. With a final farewell, he dies, giving Chibi-Robo some sort of energy ball, leaving him with infinite power. The kid from the beginning then returns and, convinced that Greenthumb is the one who restored the park, finally shows the toy some respect, taking him home.
Backstory[]
His backstory is explained through flashbacks during the main story. General Greenthumb was originally owned by a child who played the video game he originated from, Smog Wars. The child, losing in the video game, decided that General Greenthumb was lame and didn't enjoy the game.
During the second flashback, the kid is shown visiting the park with toys of Greenthumb and the series antagonist, Hazmatroth. He threw Greenthumb onto the floor, abandoning him at the park and returning home. Once the child leaves, Greenthumb gains consciousness for the first time. Seeing the beauty of the park, he swore to protect it. Soon after, Miasmo attacks with a group of smoglings, who surround the General.
During the third flashback, Greethumb is shown charging into Miasmo's factory base, demanding to face him. Unfortunately, he is quickly overwhelmed and Miasmo uses his power to brainwash him, turning the hero into Sergeant Smogglor.
